Been a bit, but not for no reason.

I have been all over the place the last couple of weeks. First, I took the bus, if you can believe that, to Cincinnati. It really wasn't as bad as everyone says it is. My biggest problem was that you have no idea when you are going to get where you are supposed to. It's like a surprise to them when a bus shows up at all. And they never show up when they say they will. I felt like I was in a twilight zone episode. Then again I always feel like I'm in a twilight zone episode... the world is a weird place okay.

In Cincinnati I spent a week with the best tuba and euphonium players in the world, which on my celebrity scale of awesomeness is a bit higher than meeting William Shatner, but a tad bit lower than running into Angela Lanseberry.

Any way, after the Tuba and Euphonium conference I headed back to New York by way of train, if you can believe that, with a one day pit stop in Washington D.C.. There I went to the portrait museum. That place is too cool for words. While there I saw some more Friedlander pics, yay for me, a John Brown Portrait, the guy who put crazy into abolitionist, and a great big Italian movie poster for Notorious. No Colbert portrait though. They had taken it down a few weeks before. Also D.C. is much more beautiful at 2:00 in the morning. There are less people walking around, the lights on the monuments make you feel like your part of something larger than the next joke of an election, and there is so much security there is no way you will be mugged.

So you can see why there has been sort of a slow down in drawings. I have though been working fairly hard and diligently on my photos for my class. I decided to post my favorites here to see if people had any comments.

Oh, oh, also I have been working on character designs for possible productions at World Leaders. I can't show you any of them cause they belong to the company, but just so you know, I am still drawing.

It's going alright

So here's an interesting story. A woman walks up to me at the subway terminal today. She says "Do you ever notice how this terminal always smells like dead chicken?". " Umm... no," I responded. And this is how the rest of the conversation played out.

"These damn kids always rather to kill chickens and spill their blood all over the place instead of makin' their own damn luck and go to school. They don't know the first meaning of the...meh...muf...ruff...riff." And she walked away still talking leaving me with the feeling that I might be high on drugs. Very weird.

Another tidbit of information. Went to the MET today to listen to a series of lectures on Super Heros and their importance in art history. Speakers included comic artists Alex Ross and John Cassaday and Michael Uslan, the executive producer of The Dark Knight. It was a great experience. Learned alot. The MET as of yet is the coolest place I've visited so far. I was like me in a candy store. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. Also saw a great Lee Friedlander book for about $50. Plan on buying it before the end of my internship this summer.

Now on to the assighnments for this week...... Birds! (more on the way)

Also drew some sketches durning the slower parts of the lectures...

More on the internship and photos for my problem solving class tomarrow.

The First of Few I'm sure

So the internship at World leaders is starting up and I'm crazy excited to be here in NYC, the greatest city in the world*jazz hands, confetti, and over dramatic voice over*. The plan is simple: I have illustration assignments that I have given myself and my friend every week. I'm doing this to build up a portfolio and keep myself working. I also plan to show some photos from my problems course in photography. Also throw in an anecdote here and there for your amusement. So sit back and enjoy. This week's assignment was bears........
